About Us

Here, in our 17th-century coaching inn youll find low beams, big smiles and hearty food and drink. A crackling fire. Cosy guest rooms for a rest. A sun terrace, all modern and bright and a river running past. Make a splash!

The Crown Inn, recently awarded four silver AA stars, sits on the banks of the River Eamont and offers 17 cosy guest bedrooms, inspired by our gorgeous natural surroundings.

Head up to our rooftop terrace and soak up the beautiful views along Ullswater.

Savour lovingly prepared, hearty dishes from our menu, whether you’re tucking into a Crown classic or a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings, or just filling a small corner with some of our tasty nibbles.

You can wash it all down with one of our cask ales or pamper your palate with a smooth and spicy Pinot.

There’s no need to leave your four-legged friends at home when you stay at Crown Inn Pooley Bridge, either. We're a dog friendly place so bring them along.

Incidentally, we made a fascinating discovery while we were redeveloping the inn. We found a 1959 time capsule in one of the walls, so we buried this in a bigger time capsule to mark our new look inn’s official opening.

The capsule contains important Crown Inn memorabilia such as postcards and the invoice of our first beer order from our new-look inn.

If you like what you’ve seen or experienced with us, why not explore some of our sister hotels and inns? We’re proud to be part of the House of Daniel Thwaites - a wonderful collective of unique places to visit that are spread across Britain, from the Lakes down to the south coast.

We’re all surprisingly different but united by our desire to offer superb hospitality in our fabulous properties.
